Dr Oluwatosin Audu
Oluwatosin Yemisi Audu, is a researcher in the areas of Organic Synthesis and Medicinal Chemistry. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in industrial chemistry in 2010 from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria.
She obtained her master’s degree in chemistry in 2016 from Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria. Her M.Sc dissertation was titled ‘Synthesis, Characterization and Antimicrobial Properties of 2,3-Disubstituted Quinazolin-4(3H)-one derivatives’.
Oluwatosin was a recipient of the World Academy of Science – National Research Foundation (TWAS-NRF), Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 2017.
Oluwatosin obtained her Doctoral degree in April 2022 in Chemistry from the University of Pretoria, South Africa with research focusing on the design and synthesis of heterocyclic derivatives. The doctoral thesis was titled ‘In-silico guided design, synthesis and bio-evaluation of potential chemotherapeutic agents against malaria, cancer, and disease-causing pathogens.
During her Ph.D. studies, she was engaged in undergraduate tutoring, practical demonstration, and supervision of the honors project.
In April 2022, as a postdoctoral fellow, Oluwatosin joined the flow chemistry research group of Prof. Paul Watts at Nelson Mandela University, South Africa. At Nelson Mandela University, she was involved with the batch and continuous flow synthesis of an active pharmaceutical ingredients.
She has been actively involved in research through self-initiation and collaboration with other researchers at local, national, and international platforms and this has led to numerous publications in accredited/peer-reviewed scientific journals.
In July 2023, Oluwatosin joined H3D as a postdoctoral research fellow, and she is currently working on a malaria project.
Oluwatosin loves cooking, singing and listening to gospel music.
