Dr Sauvik Samanta

Investigator | Malaria Chemistry

Dr Sauvik Samanta obtained his PhD in 2015 at Synthetic Organic Chemistry from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. He enriched his Asymmetric Organic Synthesis expertly with two postdoctoral fellowship research experiences from University of Warsaw, Poland (Erasmus Mundus Postdoctoral Fellowship, Nov 2014 – Sep 2015) and from University of Cape Town, South Africa (Claude Leon Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship, May 2016 – April 2018).

To explore his Chemistry knowledge and synthesis capability in Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Discovery research, Dr Samanta joined H3D in July 2018, as a Medicinal Chemistry postdoctoral fellow. During his postdoctoral tenure at H3D he was working mostly on a hit to lead (H2L) programme of antitubercular drug discovery research. In February 2022, Dr Samanta was appointed as a Medicinal Chemistry Investigator at H3D and currently he is involved in formal hit assessment (FHA) and H2L programmes of antimalarial drug discovery research.
